Dear friends,
As you may know, the fire that took place in a large part of the Bruson Building on April 21st in Jackson Heights completely ruined the offices of Queens Community House there. They are asking for help to be able to restart their work and find a new space that they can operate from.
Queens Community House has been a huge part of the Jackson Heights community for many years and they have provided a vast array of invaluable services to many people who have benefited greatly from programs such as Adult Education, Immigrant Services, English Language Lessons, College Access and Support, and more.
On a more personal note, QCH has always been one of the strongest supporters of the Jackson Heights Green Alliance and they have been our partners on the 78th Street Plaza, and on making the Rory Staunton Field a reality. We have also partnered with them in the Fairness Coalition of Queens to help stop Major League Soccer from building a stadium in the middle of Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
We are also partnering with them on a very exciting series of free events which will take place on the 78th Street Plaza this Summer, starting next week. We are looking forward to hosting free exercise and yoga classes, cooking demos and health information sessions, thanks to our partnership with Queens Community House. We will send out more information about this very soon.
Please help QCH with their Jackson Heights Phoenix Campaign by clicking here and donating, or by becoming a fundraiser yourself and pledging to raise a certain amount.
Any amount helps, we would love to see QCH continue their fantastic work in Jackson Heights so please spread the word to anyone who might be interested and forward the fundraising web page to them.
Thank you, and we will see you around the neighborhood!
